Pentair Rainbow test kit for total water hardness by using a test tube and solution reagents to count the number of droplets it takes to change the color in the dial. The kit comes with a paper of instructions that explains how to get an accurate reading on the calcium hardness level.
Calcium hardness is important to be in the ideal range, in order to prevent scaling and corrosion on the surface of the pool and the filtration and plumbing systems.
Features :
- Tests the water hardness of swimming pool and spa water.
- Contains two reagents, and 1 test tube
- Reagents = Solutions #6 and #7
Instructions :
- Take a sample of water from your pool or spa and fill it up to the line in the test tube.
- Get the reagent marked Solution #6, and apply two droplets to the test tube, and give the test tube a swirl.
- Now the sample in the test tube will be a reddish color.
- Get the reagent marked Solutions #7, and count how many individual droplets it takes to change the color in the test tube from a reddish color to a pure blue color.
- For each drop of Solution #7 that you applied, multiply that by 50 to get the reading of your calcium hardness level.
For example : 4 Drops = 200 Calcium Hardness Level.
For further instructions, follow the instruction sheet that comes with the test kit.
